MOT Issues Public Service Vehicle Vocational License To e-hailing Drivers
Those who wish to obtain a PSV vocational license can register at driving institutes and eHailing Operator (EHO) centers located across the country.

The Ministry of Transport has announced the issuance of Public Service Vehicle (PSV) vocational licenses to 300 e-hailing drivers.
The move is part of the Ministry of Transport's effort to address the shortage of competent drivers in the public transport sector.
The ceremony was jointly organized by the Ministry, the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), and Grab Malaysia, a leading e-hailing service provider in the country.
Persons With Disabilities
In total, 2,295 candidates from Grab Malaysia had applied for the PSV vocational license, with 210 of them being persons with disabilities. The initiative is in line with the Ministry's announcement of two improvements to the policy: the extension of the maximum age limit for taxi and e-hailing vehicles from 10 to 15 years, effective from January 1, 2023, and the revision of the PSV license procedure, including the removal of the theory test.
Those who wish to obtain a PSV vocational license can register at driving institutes and eHailing Operator (EHO) centers located across the country. The license is a crucial requirement for e-hailing drivers, as it ensures that candidates meet the safety and integrity standards set by the JPJ.

Better e-hailing Services
The initiative is expected to provide better service to the public and support the gig economy by facilitating the ecosystem of the transport service sector, contributing to the country's economic growth. It also helps to create more job opportunities for Malaysians who are interested in becoming e-hailing drivers.
This move shows the government's commitment to improve the public transport sector by providing better services and safety standards for passengers. With the issuance of PSV vocational licenses, e-hailing drivers are now recognized as professional drivers, which will enhance the credibility and reliability of the e-hailing industry.
In conclusion, the issuance of PSV vocational licenses to e-hailing drivers is a step in the right direction towards addressing the shortage of competent drivers in the public transport sector in Malaysia. This initiative not only supports the gig economy but also improves the overall safety and quality of public transportation.
